Transfer of Engagement Update
A Stronger Credit Union for the Education Community
TUI Credit Union is pleased to provide members with an update on the proposed Transfer of Engagements involving TUI Credit Union, Comhar Linn INTO Credit Union and Education Credit Union.
Following engagement with the Central Bank of Ireland, the proposed merger is being completed over two phases:
Phase 1
Transfer of Engagement between Comhar Linn INTO Credit Union and Education Credit Union.
Phase 2
Following the completion of Phase 1, a subsequent Transfer of Engagement between the enlarged Comhar Linn entity and TUI Credit Union. Members of TUI Credit Union will have the opportunity to vote on this proposal at a date to be determined. Members will receive a comprehensive information pack in advance of the vote, outlining the proposal in detail and providing an opportunity to ask questions before making their decision.
Phase 1 Special General Meetings
Members of Comhar Linn INTO Credit Union and Education Credit Union are currently being asked to consider and vote on the Phase 1 proposal. Special General Meetings (SGM) will take place on 26 August 2026, where members from both credit unions will have the opportunity to hear further details, ask questions and cast their vote on the proposed transfer of engagements.
Section 130 Information Pack
As part of the statutory process, members of the participating credit unions receive a Section 130 Information Pack. This pack contains important information regarding the proposed merger, including:
- The rationale for the transfer of engagements.
- Information on the financial strength and position of the credit unions involved.
- Details of the benefits and opportunities arising from the proposed merger.
- Information on governance arrangements and future operations.
- Details of the voting process and Special General Meetings.
- Frequently asked questions and supporting information to help members make an informed decision.
