📈 Credit Union Loan Book Hits All-Time High
The Irish League of Credit Unions (ILCU) has reported its strongest lending performance to date, with the total loan book reaching €6.24 billion in Q3 2025—surpassing the previous record set in 2008. Over 104,000 loans were issued in the quarter, amounting to €734 million, a 17% increase from Q2.
Mortgage lending continues to expand, now making up 10.6% of the total loan portfolio, with a 28% year-on-year growth. Loan arrears have dropped to a historic low of 2.30%, reflecting strong credit quality.
Membership has grown to 3.3 million, and savings have reached €15.87 billion. Recent Central Bank reforms have empowered credit unions to broaden their lending capabilities, especially in housing and SME sectors.
